Climate change is taking its toll on the holy springs of the northeast Indian mountains, despite the latter enjoying divine protection. A decrease in rainfall has seen a decrease in the water they provide. Local farmers in the state of Sikkim are now fighting for their livelihoods.<br /><br />With 80 percent of them dependent on the springs, they cannot afford to waste a single drop of rain. But deforestation and dry weather have made water a precious commodity. The government has now joined forces with the WWF to take action.
